KODAIKANAL

Kodaikanal is one of the most popular hill resorts in India. It is a charming hill station, stands amidst sylvan beauty on the southern crest of the upper Palani Hills near Madurai in Tamil Nadu. With its rocks, woods, lovely lake and bracing air, Kodaikanal is an ideal hill resort for the tourists. The unique flowering plant 'Kurunji'(Strobilanthus Kunthanus) that last bloomed in 2004, is nature's gift to Kodaikanal. Kodaikanal located amidst the folds of the verdant Pali hills is one of the most popular serene hill stations in India, which mesmerises any visitor and is frequented all through the year. Kodai is situated at an altitude of about 2,133-m high and covers an area of 21.45-sq-km. The hill town is renowned for its educational institutions of international repute. The hill-plantain fruits and plums are known for their freshness and taste. Berijam lake, one among the beautiful lakes of South India, spreads over an area of 24 hectares.

OOTY
OOTYOotacamund or Ooty the queen of southern hill resorts of India is a hill resort standing at 7,349 feet above sea level. Udhagamanalam (other name for Ooty) spreads over 36 sq. miles and the temperature ranges from 25 degree Celsius in summers to near freezing in winters. This famous hill station is at the junction of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, three southern states of India. British founded this hill resort which seemed them as their summer headquarters. Before that time, the area was inhabited by Todas. These tribal people still inhabit the area, but only around 3000 remain.

Ooty lake : OOTY lake is favourite tourist spots of the visitors. The lake covers an area of one and a half square miles, with a railway running along one bank. The large graveyard of St. Thomas's church, built in 1870, overlooks the lake. It has the tallest memorial of Ooty, a huge pillar surmounted by a cross, over the grave of William Patrick Adam, the Governor of Madras Presidency, who died in Ooty in 1881. Paddle boats or rowing boats are available for boating enthusiasts.

MYSORE
OOTY

Mysore is the second largest city in the state of Karnataka. The city is situated at the base of Chamundi Hills and is famous for the Dussehra celebrations during which a large number of tourists visit the city. Hindu mythology says that Mysore was ruled by Mahishasura a demon who was later on killed by Goddess Chamundeshwari. Till the 15th century, the area where Mysore stands today, was known as Puragere. The fort was constructed in the year 1524 by Chamaraja Wodeyar III.

Mysore city is the cultural capital of Karnataka. Dussehra is the most important festival of the city and this festival is celebrated for a period of 10 days. Started by King Raja Wodeyar I in the year 1610, the ninth day of the celebration is known as Mahanavami and the imperial sword is worshiped on this day. Processions constituting ornamented elephants, camels and horses are taken out.

Bangalore, also known as Bengaluru, is designated as the capital of the state of Karnataka in India. The name of the city is tantamount to the IT (Information Technology) revolution in the country. Bangalore houses a population of 8,425,970 (2011) and ranks as the third biggest city in the nation in terms of population. The picturesque neighborhoods of Bangalore will definitely amaze the astute travelers. The city has turned into a major commercial, industrial, and cultural hub in South India.

A number of nicknames are used to describe Bengaluru including the 'Silicon Valley of India', 'City of Gardens', and 'Pub Capital of India'.
